Step into a world of adventure at White Dragon Activity Centre, where woodland magic meets target-sport thrills. Nestled on the Essex–Suffolk border near Colchester and Sudbury, our five-acre site is home to archery ranges, axe throwing, airgun shooting challenges, and bushcraft survival skills experiences that are perfect for families, friends, schools, and groups.
We're the only place in East Anglia where you can shoot real flaming arrows!
Outdoor and Indoor Adventures
In summer, the archery action often begins on our grassy outdoor range, lined with willow trees, before moving into the woods for a fantasy-themed course of 2D and 3D targets. If you come for field archery, you’ll test your aim against dragons, goblins, and woodland creatures in a setting that feels part storybook, part sport. Come for bushcraft, and you'll be seated around a crackling campfire in a sunlit glade, far from the sounds of roads and modern life, with your expert wilderness coach.
When the weather turns, we bring the action indoors. Our atmospheric castle-themed hall hosts archery, axe throwing, and airsoft experiences all year round, making White Dragon one of the few independent centres in Essex that can guarantee fun in any season.

Our friendly instructors are fully trained, enhanced DBS-checked, and highly experienced in working with both children and adults. The indoor ranges are step-free and wheelchair accessible, and activities can be adapted for different abilities. Our coaches are SEND-experienced and committed to ensuring everyone has a good time - please feel free to contact us before booking to ask about specific needs. All equipment is provided, and beginners are always welcome.

White Dragon Activity Centre is easily reached from areas like Colchester, Braintree, Ipswich, Chelmsford, London and Sudbury, with free onsite parking. All sessions must be booked in advance through our online system, and gift vouchers are available year-round.

Map & Directions
Road Directions
The postcode (CO8 5DJ) will lead you to some houses nearby. If you’re using Google Maps, just put ‘White Dragon Activity Centre’ in. The magic of Google will lead you straight to us! If not, look out for our signs.
If sat-nav tries to lead you over a level crossing and down a very small farm track, please ignore it, return to the main road and continue until you reach the village green, then turn left and follow it from there. You can get to us via the farm track but it's not as nice to drive on as the main road!
White Dragon Activity Centre is made up of two sites very close to each other - one for indoor adventures, one for outdoor. Make sure you come to the right one as they each have their own car park! When you book you'll get emails and texts with full directions, and you can check our website too at https://www.whitedragonactivitycentre.co.uk/directions.
Public Transport Directions
By train Bures Railway Station is only a ten-minute walk from us, but be careful - part of it is a country lane with no pavement. Turn left, then left again, out of the station. Take another left immediately after you walk under the railway bridge. Continue until you see our signs near a farm.
