A detail of the cart stuck in the river from John Constable's The Hay Wain

About

The Packing Shed Theatre Company return to Colchester's historic Castle Park to bring to life one of the area's most famous scenes in a specially created performance played out in the open-air.

Created to mark the two-hundredth anniversary of John Constable’s most famous painting, The Hay Wain brings to life the people that populate the painting, lives defined not by simplicity and virtue, but by hardship, hope and resilience.

Taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Colchester Castle after the park has closed to the general public, this is an open-air production so bring picnics, chairs and jackets. A bar will be on site providing drinks and light refreshments.
