About

Discover a magical escape in the heart of history with a stay at The Castle Bothy, our beautifully restored shepherd’s hut for two. Nestled within the serene walled garden of Hedingham Castle, this enchanting hideaway blends rustic country charm with luxurious modern comfort.

Set on a Norman estate founded in the 12th century by the Earls of Oxford, The Castle Bothy offers a peaceful private sanctuary surrounded by centuries of heritage and natural beauty.

Your Romantic Woodland Retreat

Step inside and feel instantly at home. The hut features:

  • A superking bed dressed in soft, cosy linens courtesy of And So to Bed
  • A wood burner for warm, atmospheric evenings
  • A thoughtfully designed kitchen and contemporary shower room
  • Beautiful décor inspired by the estate’s historic surroundings

Outside, your secluded terrace invites you to completely unwind. Sink into the wood‑fired hot tub under the stars, or enjoy a glass of wine beside the crackling fire pit as dusk settles over the garden walls.

Experience Hedingham Castle

Guests staying on days when the estate is open to visitors can enjoy complimentary access to the iconic Norman Keep, one of the best-preserved in England. Wander the grounds at your leisure and soak in the tranquillity of this remarkable historic setting.

A Perfectly Placed Countryside Escape

Located in the picturesque village of Castle Hedingham, the Bothy is just a short stroll from:

  • A charming village shop
  • Two welcoming pubs
  • A cosy local café

Whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee in the sunshine, relaxing in the warm glow of the fire pit, or exploring the rich history of the estate, The Castle Bothy promises an unforgettable retreat for couples seeking romance, relaxation, and a touch of medieval magic.
