About

Gilbert and Sullivan's extremely successful 25 year partnership produced a large selection of operettas still loved and performed today worldwide. The duos use of satirical humour and wit woven through their productions made comment on society and events of the day.

Conducted by James Davey, with accompanist Fran Jefferies they enthusiastically lead the choir through the fun, light hearted choruses from favourites including, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Princess Ida, Trial by Jury and more! This is a relaxed concert, cabaret style. Please bring your own drinks and snacks to indulge in during the performance and interval.

James Davey is one of the UK's most distinguished and respected choral directors, in demand for his work as a conductor, choir trainer, arranger, adjudicator and fixer. Fran Jefferies is a MA Piano Accompaniment graduate from the Royal Academy of Music. She is also a first study harpsichordist, known for her sensitive accompanying skills, performing with instrumentalists, groups and singers.

Halstead Choral is one of the oldest non-audition musical societies in Essex with records going back 75 years. The choir has a reputation for presenting concerts of a wide and varied content to a high standard of musical performance.
