HUNTER MUSKETT

About

Hunter Muskett was formed by Terry Hiscock, Chris George and Doug Morter in 1969 as a folk/rock trio playing the folk circuit alongside Fotheringay, Fairport, Pentangle and Steeleye.

Following their 1970 album release, Every Time You Move, recorded with Pentangle’s Danny Thompson, Rog Trevitt joined on bass guitar. The four-piece gigged at home and abroad for five years putting out a second album, Hunter Muskett, produced by Keith Relf of The Yardbirds.

Following a successful UK concert tour with Ralph McTell, the band went their separate ways in 1974 but later reformed when Cherry Red released the albums on CD in 2012. They are now performing their earlier songs, like the perennial Silver Coin, alongside a new repertoire of acoustic driven material.

In the meantime, Doug Morter continued as a solo artist enjoying stints with the Albion Band and Magna Carter while also touring alongside Jerry Donahue of Fotheringay fame. As one reviewer said recently, most people will find an album in their collection featuring Doug Morter on lead guitar.

Reunited once again the band are meeting old friends and new everywhere they play and now with two albums of new songs they’re finding themselves back in demand.

Support... Bernard Hoskin is an experienced singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has released 9 cds and opened for many of the big names on the folk scene. He previously played for Colchester Folk Club as a member of Pavlov's Cat. A recent review of a live performance wrote: "Bernard performs songs with the unhurried, slightly wistful, airy, summery feel of classic 60s folk singer-songwriters, creating a reflective, gentle and fundamentally positive space, which it was a treat to inhabit during his deservedly well-received set."
