About
Beethoven's concerto harnesses the talents of star soloists Tom Poster, Elena Urioste & Laura van der Heijden, who join the Roman River Festival's ensemble in an ingenious, exuberant work that melds bravura display with fine spun chamber music delicacy.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Essex's Roman River Festival, we invite the festival's orchestra, the Wild Arts Ensemble, to make their debut at Saffron Hall. Intricacy and intimacy define Iain Farrington's arrangement of Mahler's first symphony. A typically all-embracing symphonic journey, it is alive with the sounds of nature, revelling in rustic dances and darkly twisted folk tunes. Like restoring a grand master painting, this chamber orchestra version adds even more vibrancy to the orchestral colours and a razor-sharp definition to the interlocking instrumental lines whilst losing nothing of the ebullient, unstoppable life force.
