Audley End Miniature Railway Marks 60 Glorious Years with Father's Day Celebration in Loving Memory of Founder
This summer the railway will celebrate 60 years of creating family memories aboard the Audley End Miniature Railway. Over Father's Day weekend, the railway will welcome visitors to commemorate the occasion and Fathers and Grandfathers go free!
Lord Braybrooke began the railway in 1964 due to his passion for steam trains. He opened the miniature railway to the public to provide entertainment for visitors to Audley End House next door, which is now run by English Heritage. The past 60 years has seen the Woodland develop its offering from picnics under the trees and spotting teddy bears in the woods from the train to adding seasonal wonder along with fairies and elves to entertain children of all ages.
The Honourable Amanda Murray who runs Audley End Miniature Railway, and eldest daughter of Lord Braybrooke, said; "As we celebrate this enormous milestone the railway will connect our heritage with the future of our attraction. Our anniversary celebration across Father's Day will welcome Father's to come for free and families to enjoy a traditional British day out."
Across Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of June, guests will enjoy a day out with wonderful music, interesting machinery to explore, fair rides, and cream teas, to list a few, as we invite families to continue the tradition of visiting Audley End Miniature Railway in our 60th year.
