About

The full range of colours, textures and moods of the violin and piano combination are explored in a richly varied programme. Prokofiev's expansive sonata contains music of brittle, sometimes savage energy framed by music of restless beauty, whilst Debussy acts as a counterweight - a refined, concise wartime masterpiece of elegance and exuberance. Takemitsu links the two with music of cloudy, shimmering textures and a haunting introspection.

Japanese violinist Coco Tomita is a former BBC Young Musician of the Year strings winner and a rising star, named as 'One to Watch' by Gramophone Magazine and 'Young Classical Star' by Classic FM. Her debut album Origins received a succession of rave reviews from The Strad, Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine and was selected as 'disc of the month' by Apple.
