About

Edward Gardner has a special affinity with Tchaikovsky – LPO's performances of his symphonies with Gardner at the helm are alive with what the conductor calls Tchaikovsky's 'deep passion, loss, and memories of happiness'.

The epic symphonic portrait of Byron's brooding, wandering hero Manfred contains some of Tchaikovsky's most vibrant and characterful music.

We're thrilled to welcome back one of the biggest stars in the piano firmament Vikingur Ólafsson, for his third Saffron Hall visit, and his first as a concerto soloist. Of the recent concerto Mark Simpson wrote for her, Nicola Benedetti said 'everything has been poured into it' and The Strad lavished it with praise, calling it 'immediately arresting'. Simpson's latest concerto, for Ólafsson, promises to be equally thrilling.
